The first audiobook I ever listened to was Catching Fire. We were going on a long road trip and reading in the car makes me nauseous. Christian had also read The Hunger Games and was down for listening to the rest of the trilogy. We drove from California to Utah and then Utah to Washington and from Washington back to California listening to the Hunger Games trilogy. We were both hooked.
Because of the way my job is I can often listen to audiobooks while I work on a spreadsheet. And because the way my life is I can’t read books without either neglecting my kids or putting myself to sleep after just a couple of pages. Nothing helps me get through washing the dishes late at night like a good audiobook playing in the background.
If you’ve read the Harry Potter series and also listened to the audiobooks you know that listening to a book you’ve read has its own special magic. Some of the voice actors are incredible and will really bring a book to life.
Here are 10 of my favorite audiobooks and why. After this list I’ll tell you how to get audiobooks inexpensively or even for free!
